Holy Week 2020

Church Pastor's Blog

I don’t know about you, but I (Pastor Bobby) am struggling with Lent and Holy Week this year. Are you feeling this way too?

It just doesn’t feel very Lent-y and Holy Week-y…

It feels like there is something missing! And let’s be honest, there is…

We haven’t been able to meet together. We haven’t been able to share our joys and struggles face-to-face.

While all of this true, Easter is still real!

Easter isn’t about bright colored dressed, cute little suits, egg hunts, or even well-planned worship services with special music. Easter is about proclaiming this one thing.

Christ is Risen!

There is nothing that can stop us from celebrating the risen Christ. There is nothing that will stop us from proclaiming the risen Christ.

Our community and world needs the church to proclaim these words loudly at this time.

I’m going to share a verse with you, and there is a pretty good chance you are familiar with it.

“I can endure all things through the power of the one who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13 (CEB)

Some of you may have heard a little different translation of this verse, but I think this is one of the translations, both word for word and meaning for meaning.

The apostle Paul wrote this while he was in prison. He wrote it to encourage the Philippian church. Throughout Paul’s letter to the Philippians, he shares why and how he can endure all things… and its because of this:

Christ is Risen!

Church, just as the Philippian church needed to hear Christ is Risen, our world needs to hear it! Our world needs to hear the hope that only the Risen Christ brings, that only the Risen Christ offers, and that only the Risen Christ ensures.

So church, if you’re like me and you’re not feeling very Lent-y, Holy Week-y, or Easter-y, just hear this,

Christ is Risen!

And we will celebrate the life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus Christ this week!
